Just finished up another portable generator setup today. Jacob Klein and I installed an interlock switch, which is mounted directly on the panel, with a portable generator power inlet in the garage. An interlock switch gives you, the homeowner, the option to chose the circuits that you want to be on during a power outage.
With the weather getting colder, people are plugging in there space heaters. Be safe and make sure you have space heaters plugged into a dedicated outlet! Otherwise, they are a serious fire hazard. This picture is the result of just that.
